Families
Where does the nanny look after my kids?
Usually at your hotel, Airbnb or rental in Fukuoka City. You can also agree on outings like a park or playground with your nanny in the chat.
What ages do nannies care for?
From infants to school-age kids. Each profile shows the age groups a nanny is comfortable with and how many children they can look after at once.
Do all nannies speak English?
Yes. Every nanny on TabiCare speaks English, and we check this during the in-person interview. Many also speak Japanese and other languages.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as you can, especially for evenings and weekends. Requests need to start at least a couple of hours from now, and nannies have up to 24 hours to reply.
Can I talk to the nanny before booking?
Yes, message them from their profile. Contact details stay hidden until a booking is confirmed, so please keep the conversation in the app.
How are nannies vetted?
We check ID and residence status, call references, interview every nanny in person and encourage first aid training. Our safety page explains each step.
Payments and cancellation
How much does it cost?
Each nanny sets their own hourly rate, shown on their profile. There’s a 3-hour minimum, a small fee for each extra child, and a 8% service fee at checkout. You see the full price before you pay.
When am I charged?
Only after your nanny accepts your request. You then have 24 hours to pay and confirm. Your payment is held by TabiCare and released to your nanny after the booking.
What currency will I pay in?
All prices are charged in Japanese yen (JPY). We show an approximate conversion to help, but your card issuer sets the final exchange rate.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel 48 hours or more before the start for a full refund. Between 24 and 48 hours, you get 50% back. Less than 24 hours before, the booking isn’t refundable.
What if the nanny cancels?
You get a full refund, and we’ll do our best to help you find someone else.
Should I tip?
Tipping isn’t expected in Japan, and it isn’t required on TabiCare. A kind review means a lot to a new nanny.
Nannies
Who can become a TabiCare nanny?
People with everyday English (enough to care for children and talk with parents), who are legally able to work in Japan, have real experience caring for children and live anywhere in Kyushu. Bookings open in Fukuoka City first, and we'll switch on your city as families arrive.
Does my English need to be perfect?
No. You don't need to be fluent or sound like a native speaker. What matters is everyday English: understanding what parents ask, keeping the kids safe and happy, and sending simple updates in the chat. If you can do that, we'd love to hear from you. Other languages are a big bonus too.
How much can I earn?
You set your own hourly rate. TabiCare keeps a commission from your care earnings to cover payments, vetting and support. Travel fees go to you in full.
How do I get paid?
Through Stripe, straight to your Japanese bank account. Payouts are released after each completed booking.
Do I have to work fixed hours?
No. Set your usual weekly availability, block off days you’re busy and accept only the requests that suit you.
